The Fire That Lingers

Once we met, a fleeting touch,A brush of souls, just once, not much.Yet now I stand, a heart inflamed,By embers of a love unnamed. *** The weight of flames I cannot douse,They burn within, no peace, no house. Was it a dream, that perfect day?Or did our paths just slip away? *** This trance, it haunts…

Once we met, a fleeting touch,
A brush of souls, just once, not much.
Yet now I stand, a heart inflamed,
By embers of a love unnamed.

***

The weight of flames I cannot douse,
They burn within, no peace, no house.
Was it a dream, that perfect day?
Or did our paths just slip away?

***

This trance, it haunts me, night and noon,
A shadow cast by a waning moon.
Incomplete, I wander lost,
A soul that yearns, no matter the cost.

***

Shall I carry this ache, this hollow song,
A note of longing, forever long?
Or will time’s breath blow out the fire,
And free my heart from this desire?

***

But until then, I’ll bear the flame,
A silent dance, without a name.
For in that moment, brief and true,
I found a world that I never knew.
